About Quest Newsroom

What Quest Newsroom Covers

Quest Newsroom is an independent website about single-player role-playing games. We cover Japanese RPGs, western and computer RPGs (CRPGs), action RPGs and soulslikes, open-world RPGs and tactical RPGs. We publish evergreen explainers that help players get more out of the genre: how the systems work, how to get started, which games to try next, and how the major series came to be.

We are not a breaking-news site. You will not find rumours, leak roundups or daily patch notes here. We aim to write articles that stay useful long after they are published, whether you are about to start your first RPG or are looking for the history behind a series you have played for decades. We do not cover MMORPGs.

Our Categories

  • Beginner Guides – first steps in the genre, choosing difficulty and classes, core systems of major games and a glossary of RPG terms.
  • Mechanics Explained – experience and leveling, stats, builds, combat systems, loot, status effects, crafting and choice-and-consequence design.
  • Subgenres – what separates a JRPG from a CRPG, a soulslike from an open-world RPG, and where the labels overlap.
  • Series Histories – the stories of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, The Witcher, FromSoftware’s games and many more.
  • Recommendations – where to start with long-running series, play orders and curated lists of standout games by style.

Who Writes Here

Articles on Quest Newsroom are published under the name Nadia Corwin. This is a pen name used by a small independent editorial team, and we say so openly. We do not claim game-industry careers, studio insider access or professional credentials. What we do commit to is careful research, clear writing and linking to the sources we rely on, so you can check our work yourself.

How We Work

Every article is researched against reliable sources such as official publisher and developer websites, game manuals and rulebooks, established reference works and reputable gaming outlets. AI tools help with drafting, and every piece is fact-checked and edited by a person before it is published. You can read more about this in our editorial policy.

Independence

Quest Newsroom is not affiliated with any game developer, publisher, platform holder or storefront. We do not accept free games in exchange for coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as “Sponsored”.
